The autumn migration of Common Cranes at Hortobágy National Park in eastern Hungary is one of Europe’s most spectacular wildlife events. Taking place between September and November, it attracts birdwatchers and wildlife photographers from around the world.

Hortobágy is the world’s largest staging area for the Common Crane (*Grus grus*), with between 150,000 and 200,000 birds gathering during a single migration season. On peak days, as many as half a million cranes can be seen filling the skies and wetlands, creating an unforgettable spectacle.
