Sagres, Portugal, is a world-renowned hotspot for birdwatching and wildlife photography. Every autumn, the peninsula becomes a natural migration bottleneck, concentrating thousands of birds as they prepare to cross the Mediterranean on their journey to Africa. Located at the southwesternmost tip of mainland Europe, Sagres serves as the final stopover for countless raptors and passerines before their long migration.**
From August through November, photographers have the opportunity to capture spectacular movements of birds of prey. Species such as the Short-toed Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Osprey, and Bonelli’s Eagle pass overhead every day, offering exceptional photographic opportunities.
Wildlife Explorers also offers optional pelagic boat trips, taking you offshore to photograph seabirds that are rarely seen from land, including shearwaters, Northern Gannets, skuas, and storm-petrels. With a little luck, you may even encounter whales or dolphins, making this an unforgettable wildlife photography experience.
